Olympus SonoSurg
SonoSurg is an ultrasonic surgical system that features speedy cutting and powerful, yet appropriate, coagulation, with a wide range of fully autoclavable 5mm reusable hand instruments.

By transmitting ultrasonic vibrations, SonoSurg prevents bleeding by coagulating as it cuts tissue.  Since coagulation and cutting are performed at lower temperatures, tissue charring and surgical smoke are reduced as compared when electrocautery is used.


Olympus announces the introduction of the T3155 SonoSurg Extra Short Curved Scissors for open surgical procedures. 



The T3155 is an addition to the current SonoSurg product line for open surgery.  The 9cm (88mm) length is 10cm shorter than the current 19cm length short scissors.  A shorter scissors is required especially for thyroidectomy, hemorrhoidectomy and mastectomy.  The scissor is high-frequency compatible so that the surgeon can control small bleeders while using Ultrasonic energy.


Two handle designs - pistol and in-line style - are available in the SonoSurg range, together with a choice of three tip designs - straight scissors, curved scissors and a hook design.




The scissors-design hand instruments can be rotated 360o without turning the wrist or switching hands, for reduced user-fatigue.  All hand instruments can be fully disassembled for cleaning and reprocessing.
